  • A League of their Own!

    Thank you so much for your support of my donors choose project. The items that you helped purchase are daily used by my students. Both boys and girls in my classroom, and other third grade classrooms have enjoyed these items immensely.

    During recess my students and other classes, daily use the football equipment in order to help burn energy. This has helped so much in teaching my students about teamwork, being appropriate winners, how to loose and not pout, and how to encourage each other, focusing on each persons strengths. The students have used the football equipment more than any other recess materials that I have.

    The books have also been a wonderful addition to my library and some of the various series have become favorites for some of my students. They have loved reading the biographies of their favorite players as well as reading books about sports they enjoy. Both my boys and girls have read many of the books and they are some of my most sought after titles.

My students this year are a unique blend with a majority loving all things related to sports. They want to play baseball, football, and kickball at recess. Their first choice of books to read also relate to sports. Unfortunately I do not have enough high interest sports books to meet my students at their various reading levels. My students this year have a large range of reading skills and this project would provide high interest books at their different reading levels. Another part of the project is to provide additional recess equipment. My students would love the opportunity to play flag football at recess and learn additional skills related to working as a team and problem solving together.

About my class
