4th Grade Calm Down Time
Funded Nov 21, 2023My students were so excited to receive the bean bag chairs! The chairs will also serve as a reward for students to use when showing respectful and on-task behavior. The chairs are great for a quiet area when a student needs to calm down.
The games and building toys have already come in handy for inclement weather days. It is nice to have these items for inside recess. They have been used for free-time that has been earned for positive class behavior on a Friday or an end of the month party.
I apologize for the delay in showing my gratitude. This was from last year and it appears I forgot to finish and send my message. I have since moved on to a new school, but I know the students and staff at Mount Rose Elementary are very happy to have received the items.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Russell
This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.Mrs. Russell's Tech Boost
Funded Oct 6, 2021I am new to teaching in a special education (SPED) classroom this year. Our classroom is a self-contained classroom called Comprehensive Life Skills (CLS). My students are low functioning and, along with academics, receive help in learning basic life skills. For some it might be hygiene, buttoning clothes, remembering to wash hands, managing emotions, following directions, etc. Also, we have a cooking lesson every week; our classroom contains a full refrigerator, oven, and other kitchen needs.
The chromebooks we were able to purchase with your donation are beneficial in giving us much needed updates in technology. My hope is to have at least ten chromebooks for our classroom in the future. They are faster than our older computers and can be moved around the classroom for easy accessibility.
Having access to this technology helps students needing to improve hand-eye coordination when using a mouse and keypad. Technology improves my students' learning by giving them access to online curriculum. We can't thank our donors enough for how they have improved our classroom and put a smile on the faces of the students in Mrs. Russell's CLS!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Russell
