  • Where Are All The Books??

    Funded Dec 29, 2021

WOW! These books never made it to the shelves. My students were so excited to have new and popular books! We opened the box together and read the back covers and they checked them out today! The books are many different genres with some classics like The Outsiders. Personally, I was sad to see a few get checked out right away because I wanted to read them myself. Usually, on library Friday, I have to remind students to read and not talk. Today however, I didn't have to remind anyone to be quiet.

    Thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

  • SEL Magazines for the Library!

    Funded Oct 6, 2021

My students are really interested in the SEL magazines from Scholastic. I have also allowed class time for the students to explore the website and it has started so many conversations among the students. I encouraged them to find a topic they can connect with and many looked up depression. They would watch the videos and discuss with one another which made this teacher happy. I also had students talk with me about things they have discovered about their own personalities. One student explained that he was an introvert and that it was just fine to be this way. I could tell by his conversation that he had felt uneasy about not being more social.

The magazines lay in our library for anyone to explore and take home. Students have shared the magazines with family which has sparked SEL discussions at home!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Williams

This classroom project was brought to life by #TeachHealthy with Nature Made and one other donor.
I moved to middle school last year from elementary school and the first thing I noticed was a lack of time to read books if interest. The kids and I have worked hard to create a cool library lounge to hang out and read. As we sorted through our selection of books we found that we had very few new and interesting books. We really didn't have many books at all. As a result of this discover, the sweet kids started donating books from home or that they gathered from from donation centers. I am so touched by their desire to create an amazing selection of books for all of their classmates. With your help, I would love to add more books to the library for these sweet students.
