I'm a teacher of an alternative environment classroom with students from grades 1st-5th who have been identified with autism and down-syndrome. They are a fabulous group of students, and make my job enjoyable.. They are funny, generous and smart. People are always amazed on how well mannered and respectful they are. The student's have been blessed with new furniture, technology and a sensory room. But we lack leveled books. Most of the books that are donated to us are way above my student's cognitive levels. I usually scramble around to find books that are appropriate for them. I don't put learning boundaries on them because I believe the possibilities are endless and they prove me correct. They love to read and learn and I believe acquiring a classroom library is a worthy investment.
