Students create professional photo portfolios
Funded Nov 5, 2023I want to thank all the donors involved in helping me with the ability to obtain a printer for my Photography and Graphic Design classes. Students will now have the ability to present their portfolio in a professional with the hopes of getting scholarships and the ability to gain employment.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Nevada Department of Education.Photo Supplies to Help Students Say, "Cheese!"
Funded May 5, 2022I just wanted to thank everyone, of you personally, for your donations towards my photo program. Although still in its first few years, we've managed to create great bodies of work and have even made four exhibitions outside of school. When I mentioned that we received the funding for the supplies, they were so happy and felt someone cared about their future. Thank you for making their future that much brighter.”

Cyanotypes for the Preservation of the Mojave Desert
Funded Oct 24, 2021The impact your donation has made upon my classroom has been positively overwhelming. I would not have been able to supply the class on such a scale. I requested chemicals, paper, and plexiglass to create cyanotype photographs. Cyanotypes are photograms, camera-less photos, created by placing objects upon treated paper. For this project, we applied imagery and found objects from Avi Kwa Ame, the indigenous land we are promoting to become Nevada's next national monument.
I had informed the students that I had requested funding for this project. At first, I received a lackluster reception. When the supplies finally arrived, the students were not only impressed but also enthused about producing photographs that would help promote protection for this beautiful location just outside of Las Vegas. As we went over the supplies, I had to mention that we needed to be frugal with the supplies to offer plenty of thought-out compositions.
We were able to produce artwork for two semesters. This alternative process offered the opportunity to teach elements of science and history aside from photography. I am happy to announce that these images have not only been viewed on campus but will be part of an exhibition through the Clark County Library District in April of 2022. I want to thank all the donors as their assistance positively influenced these young artists' lives.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Sergio Salgado
