Students use music journals to take notes during class. The journals are taken home to review assignments and complete home learning activities. Students make staffs to write music assignments. The assignments are for them to copy from the board and create music song lyrics, musical phrases and vocabulary. Students compose their own songs in their journal. I have purchased pencil sharpeners, but they burn out due to heavy use. I teach 20 classes each week and students need a good point on their pencil when writing music. Using a sharpened pencil to write music is essential.
