Students will receive an opportunity to use evidence-based life skills tools to grow in their social and emotional learning. This learning focus will support students with their self-awareness, social awareness, responsible decision making, self-management, relationship skills, and improve their ability to empathize with others. Students will practice their speaking and listening skills which are essential to helping students be active and strong learners in every other classroom and their lives. They will collaborate, interact with peers, and apply healthy emotional habits in a world that feels like there was a lot of loss. The pandemic had a huge effect on our students especially and these tools will help them reacclimate to a formal academic setting. One specific thing that our students have been struggling with is the lack of access to a water fountain due to COVID precautions. Providing a classroom refrigerator would allow my students to stay hydrated throughout their day and eliminate this particular stress. In order to continue helping my students bounce back from the pandemic I will provide; books, a laminator (for students to re-use materials), comic book activity pads, highlighters for annotations, colored pencils, collapsible easel (for poster making). These items are vital for my students progression back into school.
