Students will use these resources for the following standards needed to catch up in 3rd grade, prepare for 4th grade:
MATH: Operations and Algebraic Thinking 3.0 and 3.NBT Number and Operations in Base Ten
-Students will be using the Triangle cards to be fluent in operations and understand relationships between + - and x /
- Students will be using base ten magnetic blocks on personal white boards to demonstrate understanding.
-ELA (Reading) Series books will help students with their
RL ( Reading Literature Standards):
6. Students will explain how specific aspects of a text’s
illustrations contribute to what is conveyed by the
words in a story (e.g., create mood, emphasize
aspects of a character or setting).
7. Students will compare and contrast the themes, settings, and
plots of stories written by the same author about
the same or similar characters (e.g., in books
from a series).
8. Students will compare and contrast the treatment of similar
themes and topics (e.g., opposition of good and
evil) and patterns of events (e.g., the quest) in
stories, myths, and traditional literature from
different cultures.
9. Students will compare and contrast stories in the same genre
(e.g., mysteries and adventure stories) on their
approaches to similar themes and topics.
10. By the end of the year, students will read and comprehend
literature, including stories, dramas, and poetry,
at the high end of the grades 2–3 text complexity
band independently and proficiently.
SCIENCE: 3-PS2-3. Students will ask questions to determine cause and effect relationships of magnetic interactions between two objects. Students will use iron filings and magnet(s) kit for a variety of experiments.
