These resources will help promote the Nevada Academic Content Standards because I plan to use them to create classroom transformation activities in my classroom that are aligned to these standards. All of the materials I asked for will be used to create themed weeks/days in my classroom that will result in highly engaged students having fun and learning the standards. The materials I am requesting will be used to create the following classroom transformations:
Here is how these fun, engaging lessons will result in standards-based learning! Glow Day: This will follow our unit on multiplication and division. 3.OA.A.3, 3.OA.A.4, 3.OA.A.5, 3.OA.A.6
Construction Day: This will coincide with our math unit on area. 3.MD.B.4, 3.MD.B.5, 3.MD.B.6
Carnival Day: This will be used as a review of all ELA/Math standards to prepare for the SBAC test.
Football Day: This will align with the week of our reading curriculum, Journeys when our weekly story is about sports. RI.3.1, RI.3.2, RI3.9, W3.3
Restaurant Day: This will be used as a reading-focused day where students have a "book tasting" exploring different genres and reading skills. RF3.3, SL3.1, RF3.4, RL3.10
Hospital Day: This will go with our fraction unit in math where students will "operate" and dissect fractions. 3.NF.A.1, 3.NF.A.2, 3NF.A.3
Dinosaur Day: This will align with the week of our reading curriculum, Journeys when our weekly story is about bats. RI.3.1, RI.3.2, RI3.9, W3.3
These resources will fit COVID-related learning because they will allow students to experience hands-on, in-person learning following a time when many were not able to. Students will be able to focus on the social skills they have missed while engaging in content-related activities. It will also build classroom community and support students' overall mental well-being in the wake of COVID-19.
