Books Like Me!

Thank you so much for supporting my kids. I wish you could have seen their faces when they say all the books...and books with kids that looked like them. It was amazing. These books have become the most used books from our class library. It is so fun to see kids get excited about a new book and reading. This gift will stay with these kids for a long time. It lets them feel like they belong. Some of my kids know very few other kids that are of the same race or ability as them. So, this has been a big addition to our class. Thank you so much for funding this project and making so many kids happy!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Utah State Board of Education.

Our school is becoming more diversified. I would like to add books to my classroom library that represent the different students that are in my class. I have students that think they don't "fit in" because they are different. I want my students of different races, cultures, and abilities to be able to find a book that they can relate to. I want them to see themselves as a part of our class even if something is different... we are all different. This would help my kid feel like they belong and that we are all a big classroom family.
