Marker Magic!
Funded Mar 22, 2023Before this project was funded, my students became fascinated with the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat. We decided to use the alcohol markers to create our masterpieces.
After each student finished their project, we had a gallery walk in each of my 12 classes. Each class voted for their favorite picture in their class based on the rubric presented them at the beginning of the unit. After all the classes chose their favorite overall, I chose three pieces that I felt exemplified this assignment.
All 15 pieces were hung in such a way that our classroom appeared to be a museum. Each student voted for their #1, #2 and #3. I also voted for my preference for #1. All winners were announced over the loudspeaker, and each winner was awarded a prize. Many of my students told me that this was their favorite unit all year!
Thank you again for your assistance in making this project a reality.”

Paper Positivity!
Funded Oct 31, 2021From the moment we got the supplies you, so graciously, donated, my kids went wild! The first project was a pastel assignment based on the works of Wassily Kandinsky. I've included photos of some so you can see what they came up with. They are all the same project, but you can see how differently each child pictured it. Most had never worked with pastels, so we had a blast, and went through about 1,500 wipes in the process (my room doesn't have a sink).
I had a bunch of students who volunteered to sit and remove the perforated strips off of the pad papers so we would be ready for our next assignment, magazine collages in the style of Romare Bearden. Our final project using the donated paper will be watercolor landscapes. At this point, I'm hoping to raise money for the drying racks to place the wet assignments on.
Thanks again for your assistance!”
