This year I have had the privilege to teach kindergarten. The school where I am teaching is brand new and I don't have the materials necessary to help learning come alive. The students have a love of learning and get really engaged when there are materials for them to use. Also, this year I have had many English Language Learners and have seen how using manipulatives help them understand the concepts much faster. I plan to use my literacy materials in extending my students' knowledge regarding the alphabet. With the use of these requested math materials, I will be able to bridge the language barrier so everyone can succeed. I am excited to provide science units using hands-on materials to fully explore the engineering process. I will use wikki stix, dough stampers, alphabet stamps, and magnetic alphabet tiles to provide hands-on materials to learn the alphabet. I will use highlighter tape, dot art stamps to help the students identify sight words and the alphabet. I will use beginning sounds sorts, cvc word match, catch a letter magnetic learning game will help to identify sounds and learn to read. I will use follow dot stamps to help the students with letter formation. During math I will use foam shapes, subtraction flip solution board, count links, geometric patterns, teddy bear counters, catch a letter magnetic learning game, magnetic number tiles to enforce math concepts. One of the standard K.3 talks about how the students will plan and conduct an investigation to compare the effects of different strengths or different directions of forces on the motion of an object. Emphasize forces as a push and pull on an object. During science, I will use stem station magnets and Magna tiles, to create a chain reaction.
