  • "Stand" for Music Literacy!

    Funded Mar 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations for our "'Stand' for Music Literacy" project. With your help, we were able to raise enough money to fund this project in just under 2 weeks! My students and I were blown away with all the support we received.

Our music program was brand new to our school last year, and we were starting from scratch. I love building this program with my students, getting to learn more about their passions, interests, and characters. While I don't have a traditional classroom yet, my goal is to create a welcoming and productive environment for all of my students to learn at their fullest potential. This includes having access to music stands. These stands are extremely useful for group work, individual practice, and class work. Students are able to learn about caring for music-related materials that aren't instruments. Additionally, it provides a level of convenience that the music "classroom" doesn't otherwise have.

I have most recently used these stands in guitar club, ukulele club, guitar recitals, and in general music lesson. I have had students say, "I feel like a real musician with my own stand and everything"! Some of the materials that seem simple and behinds-the-scenes make a difference in a students' learning. Thank you again for your continued support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fine

  • Lighting Up Our Music Program!

    Funded Oct 4, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our "Lighting Up Our Music Program" project. The purpose of this project was to bring glow-in-the-dark drumsticks to my school in order to enhance rhythm reading. I was blown away with how quickly our fundraiser goal was met. In less than 2 weeks, we came together as a community to reach our goal to support these students.

Music is a universal language. It has the power to bring people together from different walks of life to create something magnificent. Having a music program is brand new to my students this year, and I wanted to be able to bring as many creative ideas and instruments as possible to cultivate an experience for all to enjoy.

A very important foundation in music is rhythm. Rhythm is essential for creating structure and movement in music. While there are many ways to teach rhythm, I wanted to bring something new and exciting to our students. The glow-in-the-dark drumsticks have been such a fun way to teach my students about rhythm. We primarily use them on bucket drums to practice reading rhythm. We also have been using them to learn about other musical elements: timbre, instrument families, ensembles, and more.

Again, thank you so much for your generosity in supporting these students. Because of you, all of our students, TK-8, have been able to use these drumsticks and experience their magic. They have grown so much as tiny musicians and love creating music as one- both in the light and the dark.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Fine
