  • 3rd Grade Engineers Build Their Own Gingerbread Houses

    Funded Nov 3, 2021

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this project. Our 3rd graders had so much fun designing and building their gingerbread houses right before winter break. Everyone had plenty of graham crackers, frosting, and colorful candy decorations to build their creations. Our students experimented with different configurations to make the most stable houses. Even when some collapsed, there were still plenty of smiles and laughter in our classrooms. Our principal, district superintendent, and deputy superintendent even came to join the fun. Thank you so much for your generous donations. Have a very happy and healthy New Year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Wang

  • 3rd Grade Rocks

    Funded Sep 25, 2021

Thank you for supporting our classroom. My students will benefit from having access to extra resources. I will be able to explore materials that other teachers have found useful and engaging with their students. I look forward to trying some of these activities with my students as well. Thank you for your generous donations.”

Making gingerbread houses is a highlight of our holiday season. Every year, my students look forward to this fun activity. I usually ask students to bring in some candy for decorations and I buy the rest myself since some families are not able to contribute, but I want every student to participate. They are always so proud of their creations. My students will incorporate engineering and math skills, as well as their artistic abilities in building their gingerbread houses. The materials requested in this project will allow each of my students to have their own set of building materials. I will load up the frosting into the bulbs and they will be able to use it to glue together pieces of graham cracker to create the walls and roof of their houses. They will then use the assortment of candy to decorate their gingerbread houses. Of course I will remind them not to eat their masterpieces until they bring them home to share with their families. Thank you for considering our project.
