Over the past years, the glaring failure in the classroom has been the lack of hands-on learning needed for students to understand difficult concepts and abstract ideas. None of which is harder than the theory of atoms. While many teachers aim to implement using models in their instruction, it remains difficult to have adequate models for demonstrating the key components of atoms and subatomic particles. My project, Mind Your Matter, is a request to invest in the future and growth of my students as they tackle this difficult subject. Being the bright minds they are, I feel a responsibility to meet their educational needs and set them off on the path of success. My students are brilliant; this brilliance can be furthered by them having better tools to facilitate learning. As such, these models would help them research and answer new questions for higher order learning. Furthermore, this will help me keep my promise of treating them right for chanting the loudest for me during our 8th grade orientation.
