Bring on the Mighty Tie Dye
Funded May 10, 2023From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for your generous donations. My students had a great time creating customized tie dye shirts. It was a great learning experience and gave them a chance to bond in a fun structure free environment. Students who normally don't interact with each other, took initiative to assist their peers in tying their shirts, and helping them create designs. All students got to let their personality shine, and their shirts show how creative they all can be. We had a blast, and are happy we can use these shirts for school wide events. Thank you again for your generosity and providing a fun and wonderful learning experience.”

Funded Nov 15, 2021I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity in funding my hot breakfast project. The supplies were well used, and my students had the best time! In preparation for our cooking activity, students learned the history of breakfast, why people typically didn't eat breakfast and then when breakfast became an official meal. They used their prior knowledge to create a breakfast menu, and used circulars from local grocery stores to find the best deals. Once the shopping was done, we were ready to go! The speech therapy room was set up as a kitchen, and it took some practice but they were able to master the art of egg and cheese sandwiches as well as waffles. They were then able to sit with their friends and eat and socialize, something that we haven't been able to do for a very long time. It was so successful, they've already decided we are going to use the sandwich maker again, and they were trying to figure out other sandwiches that we can make. You helped bring a smile to my students' faces and for that I will forever be grateful.”

Tie-Dye and Team Building
Funded Oct 20, 2021I want to sincerely thank you for helping to fund tie-dye day. When I returned to work in person in September, I was worried that with all of the new restrictions my students would not be able to participate in interactive speech therapy activities. Your contribution allowed that to happen. We spent weeks planning for tie-dye day. We quickly found that everyone loved tie-dye. We learned about the history of it, we watched videos of tie dying through the ages and watched tutorials on how to fold fabric to get patterns. Although frustrating for some, I was able to witness students who normally would not interact, help each other fold their shirts, and give advice on how to create a "cool pattern." My students spent entire speech sessions watching videos and learning how to twist their shirts. They took notes on what colors were needed to produce their vision. When it was finally time to dye their shirts, they were experts. Everyone was smiling, laughing and enjoying their time together. We let our shirts sit for a few days. Everyone took them home, washed them, and then we celebrated our upcoming vacation by wearing our shirts. It brought us all together and made it feel like "normal" times. We are looking forward to wearing our shirts again for another program wide celebration in the future.
Thank you again for your generosity.”
