Students in Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 4th grade will get an opportunity to make a functional item from clay. Students will get a tactile experience and will learn about the origin of clay and its use by a variety of artists from different cultures. They will consider how art and science come together to make ceramics. Then they will use the resources from this project to make their own clay creations. Clay creations are a fun way for students to learn building skills, time and material management, and the process of making. With the introduction of clay into my curriculum, students will have a well-rounded experience with a variety of art materials and processes.
