These materials will be a great help for my student's who have returned to in-person learning this year. My students have a project coming up that requires them to create a tree that reflects a time of growth in their lives (i.e. the title of the project). My students are extremely excited about the project but many have expressed worry over being able to afford supplies. Our high school is located in Mississippi, which is one of the poorest states in the country, and the poverty in our area makes it extremely difficult for students to have basic necessities. I want all of the students to have a fair/fighting chance at creating the best project possible. With these supplies, my students will be able to build their trees without fearing parental scolding or worrying about the price tag. The copy paper will allow me to print their narratives for their project. The scissors, hot glue sticks and pens will aid my students in constructing the trees. The dry erase markers and the dry-erase board cleaner will allow my students to brainstorm on the classroom dry-erase board or their personal dry-erase board. The hand sanitizer, masks and Lysol wipes will help keep students safe as they share supplies and work closely with one another while creating their trees. The posters are for additional motivation and an attempt to spruce up the classroom. This project is extremely important to my students and they want to put their all into it. These trees are reflections of my students and all that they have been through, so they deserve the best resources for creating them.
