My students always enter Music class with a smile, excited to find out what they will be doing in class each day. They sing, dance, listen and identify, and play instruments. The one piece of equipment used every single day in class is our piano! Every student in my school, K-5th grade, will benefit from a new piano in the Music classroom! My students sing every day in Music class, especially my 5th-grade Chorus (returning this year after 3 years of no chorus!). They all deserve the technology and resources needed to effectively learn songs and musical concepts such as pitch matching, solfege, melody and harmony, and more. The current piano in my school's music classroom was purchased over 20-30 years ago and is incredibly out of tune. Several keys do not work. Tuning such an old and broken upright piano is not worth the cost, and tuning will need to be repeated in a few years. However, the digital piano I am raising funds for will not need regularly tuned! It will also be much easier to transport through the school for special functions like concerts, assemblies, and our annual talent show. I would love for my students to experience high-quality music from our new digital piano!
