Building Independence Through Literacy Centers!
Funded Jan 6, 2022A special thank you from my students and I . Our Literacy centers from the moment they arrived have brought joy and learning to our classroom. These centers have helped my students blossomed into independent readers and writers . Students independently choose a center activity or is assigned one based on their ability . While students are working independently, or with a partner , this gives me the opportunity to work with a small group of students while the others are actively engaged . The biggest impact is that they have become more independent and take an active role in their learning while having fun. As we continue to use our centers daily we will forever be grateful for your generosity.”

Reading Last a Lifetime
Funded Sep 21, 2021My students and I thank you for helping to fund our "Reading Last a Lifetime project". This project will surely make a lasting impact on my student's life. This project and these texts are helping my students become independent readers. Many of them are already reading many of sight words and independent reading books.
In class K-109 students are provided the opportunity to read from the time they come to class in the morning until it's time to go home. Then the opportunity to read continues at home. During breakfast time students have independent reading time. They pick a book of their own choosing and read / illustrate/ and or write about it. They can share what they are reading with a partner and also with me during conferencing. Also, during Guided Reading time , students use the library as one of their centers. They choose a book and read. They can share what they are reading with partner in class. Students also have a take home book baggie where they read their take home book with their families.
Most of my students throughly enjoy reading these books. The students who are now beginning to read enjoy these books the most The excitement on their faces when they can read the whole book by them selves is priceless. Thank you again!!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Woode
