Magnetic Shapes for Making Models
Funded Apr 4, 2022Thank you for funding our Making Models with the Magnetic shapes project. Our TK and kindergarten students were overjoyed when they saw the Magna tiles and 3D magnetic shapes in the box.
Our enthusiastic learners have fully engaged in lessons where they use simple shapes to compose larger shapes, identify shapes as two-dimensional or three-dimensional, plan and build objects in the environment, and orally present their items using names of shapes and descriptive words. They have created a host of objects including rockets, castles, pizza ovens, and motor vehicles.
It has been wonderful to see our most active learners focus and collaborate with peers, and our most reluctant speakers excitedly participate in math talks around the items they build. Your generous support has made it possible for us to add more hands on stem activities into our center rotation, and also use the activities to support student oral language development. You have made a difference!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Terry

Funded Sep 26, 2021Thank you for funding the " Ipad Mini for My Mini Scholars" project for our differentiated small-group instruction program. Having an additional device for small group learning has given every student in our classroom the opportunity to practice foundational reading and math skills at their own pace. Our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students love using the Ipad mini to practice basic skills such as letter recognition, sight word reading, numbers, counting, colors and shapes. The activities on the device look like games, which makes the practice fun and not simply drill and repeat. The chimes, bells, and virtual rewards, on each digital activity gives students automatic positive feedback, allows the children to keep track of their own progress, and motivates them to try again. Our young learners are eager to try more challenging math and reading activities when they use the Ipad mini. They also enjoy doing enrichment activities such as digital painting, puzzles, and virtual piano playing. Your contribution has helped us to continue to address our mini scholars' diverse academic needs so that every student succeeds.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Terry
