The art studio at RT Cream School is a special place where young artists in PreK - 1st-grade love to learn and create! In our art studio, students enjoy a choice-based classroom. A favorite spot is our “creativity corner.” This center is filled with games, drawing materials, and the area I hope to grow - our classroom library. I’d like your help filling our art room library with stories that share diverse authors, artists, characters, stories, and cultures. I would like our classroom library to inspire these young artists and help build connections between art and literacy!
Each class artists begin by learning about our "Inspiration artist" and listening to a story. I began the year by bringing in stories from home and online, but I hope to build our art studio library as a permenant and valuable classroom resource. Stories on this list like Red, Yellow, Blue and a Dash of White Too! help build art content knowledge, while other stories like Explorers of the Wild provide visual inspiration. My students love engaging with books during class. For example, I noticed a student borrowed a book about dinosaurs and used it as a resource to create a dinosaur watercolor painting! With your help, students will gain access to an updated library filled with diverse authors, artists, characters, and stories for even more inspiration.
