The books I have chosen will serve as mirrors into my students' lives and windows into the perspective of others. My students deserve to read stories with characters that look like them! Additionally, they should have the opportunity to learn about perspectives different from their own. My hope is that using these books will foster a love of reading in each and every one of my students, as they could more easily connect to these characters. Additionally, I have included some items on the list that would ensure a COVID safe classroom. Individual water bottles are included because our students cannot use the communal water fountains due to the pandemic. Students also need individual pencil and crayon/marker sets due to COVID as well. Clorox wipes are necessary to keep our class sanitary.
