The materials that I am requesting for my students will help them to grow at their own individual pace and provide them with the tools to one day become active members in our community. I am requesting materials for my students who are on the autism spectrum to help them with their fine motor skills and the general exploration of the world beyond their homes. Students come to school with the expectation that their needs will be met and their differences acknowledged. Unfortunately, due to the COVID19 budget cuts, that is not something that we can guarantee on our own. Basic things such as jumbo markers or fine motor toys are not accessible to students with the highest of needs. Many of my students have a hard time even holding a pencil or crayon. These materials in this project will put them on the right track for success.
