I have about 20 high- level readers in an intervention period that focuses on reading. They love to tell each other about the books they’re reading, so the class and I decided that we’d all like to read the same book. They had the idea of drinking tea or cocoa and having book talks. My students voted to read the book Among the Hidden in our in-school book club. It’s a book of high interest to middle school students. Students will develop their reading and critical thinking skills through book discussions and various creative, hands-on projects.
