Flexible seating allows students to have a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. Students gain flexibility and control of their surroundings giving them the energy to stay focused and engaged. Currently I push into special education classrooms that have flexible seating and I see the benefits in their learning. I want to carryover those benefits to my other students that have to be pulled out of their classroom. Visual learning enables students to have visual thinking, which is a learning style that helps the student understand and retain information better. The positional words resource box facilitates visual learning by using manipulatives to understand basic concepts. It also is engaging and interactive for my students who require shorter durations of structured activities. The vocabulary cards are useful for not just building vocabulary but generating categories, similarities/differences, synonyms/antonyms, etc. The fluency desk is crucial due to the lack of fluency activities available. They're also great to make copies and send home for extra practice. Finally, I can use the social-emotional prompts for every student I have. These cards are a great way to teach students appropriate ways to engage and maintain conversations, repair communicative breakdowns, and role play for conversations that they may encounter outside of the classroom.
