  • A Remarkable Classroom Experience

    Funded Mar 2, 2023

Thank you so much for the tablet to support classroom assistance for my students. Using the Remarkable tablet, I have been able to work on assessments with students and allow them to create permanent products on the tablet. These are valuable to understanding the students' current levels and create programming surrounding motor functioning, academics, and functional daily living skills. I have also been able to use the tablet to take behavior and skill acquisition data on the go, which is such a valuable tool for me to engage with my student live. I am not carrying around a computer while trying to take data and engage with my supervisees and students.

My students have been thrilled with the tablet. The tablet has made creating permanent products more fun and interesting. They were much more engaged in the necessary procedures of formative assessments on a regular basis when they are able to utilize the tablet.

This tablet has been invaluable and will continue to be invaluable in the classroom, during community based instruction, and during job site evaluations and oversight. We plan to utilize this tablet to help us create comparison .pdf feedback for future worksites my students will be engaging in.

Mahalo for all you have provided to allow me to support my students as best as possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Paul

    Dear Donors' Choose Philanthropist,

It is with a warm heart and many thanks that I express my gratitude for your generous donation towards my Donors' Choose. With the money you provided, my students were able to access new technology through the use of tablet engagement for lessons via online learning. I was able to use the touch screen Chromebook to design and deliver messages online that required quick and involved levels of interaction, including reading lessons to access functional skills as well as navigate specific Google Apps and features that only work on Chromebooks, including touch screen note-writing during lessons for a shared whiteboard feature. My students were able to use the tablet in order to utilize assessment tools and design graphics for projects assigned via lessons provided. We are now able to engage in ways that we have not been able to in the past.

In one specific lesson, one of my students was able to engage in an online reading program and use their stylus to select text as opposed to attempting to use their touchpad. Though doing this, they were able to work on their fine motor functioning in more impactful and real-life ways. During another activity, I was able to use my screen to write notes while working on handling behavior interventions at the same time. It was much more impactful that I would write the notes as opposed to typing the notes later, based upon memories of the incident.

Your monetary contribution has allowed impact on multiple students, while involved with both online and in-person learning. The materials provided for the purposes of this donation have allowed both me and my students to work together and collaborate in new ways that I was not anticipating. I continue to learn more about the materials I am using to enhance the reach of my lessons and continue to expand the minds of the students with which I work. We appreciate all that you have allowed us to access and all that we will access in the future, because of you.

    Thank You,

Ms. Bethann Paul, MS, BCBA, LBA

    With gratitude,

Our students on the Autism Spectrum often have limited access to their community activities and the world around them. During these difficult times, with many of them unable to wear masks consistently and with many of them diagnosed with other heath issues that make them more prone to illness, we are not permitted to take many trips. Those trips that we are able to take are on an individual basis and extremely limited in time and scope. Currently, our school has little funding to support our special needs students and purchase such items for their use. If we were fortunate enough to be able to purchase these items, our students would be able to access far away lands and experiences. By purchasing two sets, they would be able to engage in social activities with others and have conversations about their experiences on their virtual field trips together. I would love to use interactive apps and 3D experiences to allow our students to engage in real world scenarios, such as shopping; experience real world stimuli, such as crowded areas or busy places; and visit far off lands to learn about the people, land, culture, and animals.
