As a speech therapist that works with bilingual students from pre-K through 8th grade, I am constantly looking for new and creative ways to engage and motivate my students to learn.
My students inspire me every day, and I hope to inspire them to learn and grow by creating a fun and welcoming learning environment!
I work with students with various levels, goals, and needs, including expressive and receptive language, speech sound production, social communication, fluency (stuttering), augmentative and alternative communication devices, and so much more! These materials will allow me to engage students of all levels and abilities and create an environment that makes them excited about learning and growing.
I am looking to organize and decorate my classroom in order to create an environment for students to feel welcome and excited to learn. I use art supplies, books, toys/games, and other materials to target student's IEP goals. Students get excited to work on their language skills when answering questions or describing the things they see in a book. They love to take a turn with blocks, cars, animals, or other toys after saying their target speech sound. These toys also allow me to model the use of various sentence structures, verbs/verb tenses, and increase vocabulary. Pretend play facilitates language in younger students. These fun, high interest toys would allow students with low communication abilities to practice requesting objects and communicating what they want. My students who have a hard time sitting at the table in my classroom would love a new rug to sit at during speech therapy. The speech therapy sequencing cards and WH question cards would allow me to target common language goals. Finally, the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards would allow me to purchase curriculum-based and age-appropriate activities for my middle schoolers.
