Book Baggies!

These book baggies have been a gamer changer for class 230! We have learned all about being great community members by going green. Throughout the beginning of the year we went through so many ziplock bags due to wear and tear. Now students are able to eagerly book shop for more books without worrying about their bag tearing. Also the variety of colors allowed students to differentiate between their Spanish book baggie and their English book baggie. Our readers continue to grow in level and now their book baggies will be able to hold their bigger books!”

Help us to be green! We try to teach our students to think about their impact on the environment throughout our day, yet we keep giving them plastic bags that just cannot keep up with the pace of excited second grade readers. My students are new readers and they are so excited to bring their books back and forth to home and school. They book shop each week and are eager to check out their new books and grow to be 'long strong readers.' My students try hard to be careful with their book baggies but plastic zip baggies just do not hold up to the demands of first grade readers. As a dual language class, they need double the book baggies, one for English and one for Spanish. With these new durable book baggies my students will be able to use the same book baggie for an entire school year. No more throwing plastic baggies out and into the landfill. They are already excited about the new books they shop for each week and now they will have a book bag that will keep their books safe and together throughout the week. No more books falling out the bottom of a torn baggie!
