These materials will optimize learning for my students. Third grade is a time where new concepts come into play and they aren’t always the simplest. Fractions in third grade is the first time we get to experience them ever and they are tough. Allowing them to get to experience the learning through their hands will allow them to grasp the concept quicker! Rounding has also proven to be tougher than expected and getting this hands on activity will get them right on track for their end of year testing. Time is also a concept that students have trouble with. Using the mini clocks will help them learn how to tell time to the minute quicker! Manipulation mats will allow my students to have something to take home when they need extra practice on homework problems. Fraction flips are a great resource to have in the classroom as a visual for students to be taught whole group. The fraction tower also will make a great addition to our math centers. This can make learning fun! My students will love these new additions to their classroom after having gone through such tough times without getting the proper materials due to at home learning. Using the fraction tiles students will be able to manipulate objects and help them see the clearer picture when it comes to third grade math.
