  • Help Us of Start Our 2022-2023 School Year Off Right!

    Firstly, We are honored to have had our project funded. Our class was super excited to have all the boxes delivery, and participated in a show and tell about each item.

    One of our items on the list was a printer. A printer in a school building helps allow efficiency and no wait for small copy orders; when modifications or changes need to be made to benefit student learning need, this printer is available for the sole purpose of supporting our room and its unique learners.

    Another item in our project was a laminator, which has helped allow our resources to be preserved as well as be provided to each and every student.

    Students also receives core supplies like pencils which are distributed weekly into table caddies for student use. Desks and other surfaces are cleaned daily with the cleaning supplies from this project as well.

    Access to materials for student use and staff preparation has been made possible by this project. We look forward to using all the items not only this year but into next school year.

  • Robust Classroom Library

    I would like to formally thank you for you donations to class 513. I hope to have your continued support in building our classroom supply closet and library.

    The students of school year '21-'22 were both 4th and 5th graders, who needed a variety of texts to satisfy their inquisitive minds. These texts were selected to support and challenge advanced 4th and 5th grade readers. These texts helped these readers identify structure, explore comprehension strategies and further expand their vocabulary.

    Additionally, our whiteboards - purchased at the beginning of the school year- saw significant ware and tare. They were used for scribing/conveyence, computations, gamified instruction, and other forms of support; thus the need for the whiteboards included in this package. We are honored to have them- they were delivered right on time.

    I hope you continue to support urban Special Education classrooms like mine.

  • High Interest Text for Ready Readers.

    My students are exploring topics, text structure, comprehension strategies and expanding their vocabulary. These text will also be used to support their decoding (breaking down letter sounds) skills. Here are some pictures from our book buzz party.

The books selected will support all the reading levels in our class. The selections are aligned to the Latino, and African American experiences of these learners. Their language, classifications, and points of view were at the forefront of these selections. For Example, the text Those Shoes was selected because of if message about peer pressure, equality, bullying, poverty, and compassion. These are all lessons that need to resound through multiple access points in their lives, especially in a JUST RIGHT book. As a special educator, I want my learners or as i call them Ready Readers, to see themselves in everything they do, learn about, and have access to.

About my class
