  • Scientific Calculators for Science

    Funded Nov 4, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations. Your generosity will be helping with overcoming those barriers within our community, not only for my students but for myself as well. My students are so bright and so eager to learn, but with these new calculators they will learn be learning life long skills. I’m so thankful for you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barillas

  • Math is Fun!

    Funded Sep 13, 2021

I appreciate the donations as it has made my classroom environment phone-free and I am able to provide my students with a "crutch" that aids in their learning of math and science. The calculators are helping in improving my students' math skills and aids in the effectiveness of processing the new material. Most of my students have very low math skills but having that "crutch" allows students to not be held back by their math skills.

Once again, thank you so much for the calculators. They have immensely helped my students succeed in chemistry.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Barillas

This classroom project was brought to life by The Allstate Foundation and one other donor.
The calculators will be a class set that my students will be provided with during their labs or during tests. I have been asking them to use their cell-phones during class as calculators but they tend to get distracted when I allow them to use their phones. Calculators will make it much easier for me to not lose them as they do their work The Expo markers are for us to use on whiteboards, so that I can easily see where my students are getting lost during mathematical problems. We will use them during initial class discussions so that I can effectively do checks for understanding and see whether or not I'm explaining the concepts enough. The molecular kit will allow me to provide my kids with a visual and textile example of molecules. Many of my students have let me know that they are visual learners and that they prefer to actively do things with their hands!
