As teachers, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our craft. During the pandemic, teachers began to learn new ways to integrate technology into the classroom setting to improve student learning. Educators discovered how to utilize certain technologically advanced tools to provide students with direct feedback much faster than ever before. As a math teacher, I believe it is extremely important to constantly provide my students with direct feedback. As a result, I collect and grade students’ classwork and homework assignments each day at the end of class. Although I have over 100 students and this process can be very time consuming, my students greatly appreciate the continuous feedback that I am able to provide them with. Unfortunately, there is a major downfall in the process of “collecting and grading” students homework assignments each night. This process may be problematic, as it does not provide students with immediate feedback on how well they understood the material. Instead, students are not provided with feedback until the following day’s lesson. I believe that an iPad can be a powerful tool in enhancing my craft as a teacher. This technological tool may give me the opportunity to provide my students with written and direct feedback at a much faster pace. At night, when a student completes his/her homework he/she may be able to digitally submit his/her assignment. Then, I may be able to use an iPad (with the Apple stylus pen) to correct his/her mistakes. This is remarkable, as students can be provided with direct feedback on their math homework prior to the start of the next day’s lesson. This way, students can independently gauge how well they understood the material prior to the following day's class. Such an iPad may be a powerful tool that can greatly propel the feedback process.
