Incorporating artistic expression into the classroom will help with students' learning because so much of this was stripped away during on-line schooling. I want to help students feel seen and heard by both me and their peers. This project will help alleviate some of the isolation and loneliness that many of them experienced. The authentic magazines in Spanish will help provide a real-world example and context for the content that they are learning in class. The set of books (Patina, by Jason Reynolds) will offer my ELL students an engaging text that is written at their reading level. This is crucial to help recover some of the learning loss ELLs suffered during online schooling.
