  • I Sense Change…

    Funded Jan 3, 2025

My students have genuinely loved the new resources, showing definite enthusiasm for the comfortable bean bag chair, bright neon fish sensory light and especially the soft sensory knot pillows. These items have made our classroom more comfortable and engaging, which helps students with sensory needs focus and feel relaxed. We worked on an original writing project, so students who usually had trouble sitting still or focusing could use the sensory items to calm down. This helped them think more clearly. For example, one particular student spent an important amount of time brainstorming their story in the bean bag chair, which allowed that student to focus much more than usual.

When my students first saw the materials, there was a lot of excitement and curiosity. Overall, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive, with students feeling excited about the new additions to our classroom and appreciating how the items helped them focus and de-stress.

Moving forward, these resources will continue to be integrated into our lessons. These resources will support my students in finding their best learning environments, whether they need a moment of calm or simply a space to relax and recharge. I am excited to see how these items will continue to help them thrive in the classroom, and I'm grateful to the donors for making this possible.”

  • Let’s Code 2gether

    Funded Dec 5, 2022

I am extremely grateful for you, your donations, your kindness and your support. My students have excelled with the addition of these devices in our classroom. It hasn't been easy this year and some of my students have had difficulty transitioning back into school and being open to learning new things. Whenever the iPads are used in our lessons, my students are more engaged. They are very well versed in how to maneuver the iPads and they look forward to learning with these devices. We even turned some into a speech device and loaded it with speech to text programs so that my nonverbal students have a voice in their classroom.”

  • Cleaning Crew

    Funded Oct 28, 2022

These materials have given my students the tools they needed to own their learning. They have thoroughly enjoyed cleaning their school and providing their peers with a clean and safe space to enjoy their food. My students enjoy having this responsibility and they all have shown me that they are more than able to be held accountable for their roles and responsibilities while at school. They look forward to cleaning and some even tell me when we are running low on supplies. This project has had a direct impact on their days spent at school. We will continue to work on these skills for the rest of the school year!”

  • Please Don't Stop the Music

    Funded Feb 28, 2022

This year was filled with new experiences and a lot of happy memories due in large part to your donations and your generosity. My students have been able to experience a full year of school where they learned new material and were able to approach their learning in a hands-on type of way. We jump unto our learning tasks with optimism and fun and I am beyond grateful to our donors for making this a reality for our class. Y05 thanks you from the bottom of our hearts and we will continue to make all of you and our families proud! Hope you all have a safe and fun summer!”

  • Learning During the Holidays

    Funded Dec 1, 2021

My students each use these materials in different ways. One student I have is working on her fine motor skills and has used the wooden alphabet tracing board to address multiple things. Another student is practicing her handwriting skills using the dry erase workbook where there are many areas to practice writing. At first, my students were hesitant to work with new materials however after seeing how the materials are used and seeing some of our classroom paras use them, the kids really opened up to them. Next steps for my class include a lot more writing =). Whether that's writing personal information about themselves and their families or collaborating in class to put together a handwritten project. Stay tuned =)”

  • I Got a Good Feeling About This...

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

What a way to begin the 2021-2022 school year. I have never felt the type of support I felt until I created this project for my students. These sensory items have aided my students in their transition back into school and it made them feel comfortable inside their classroom. The bean bag chair has been a HUGE HIT! Seriously, I do not know what I would have done without this chair. The other items such as the monkey noodles, the seat cushions and the puzzles are great tools to have for my scholars. They work very hard in school and we use some of these supports during their PBIS reward period. I cannot say this enough, however, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.”

    Funded Sep 19, 2021

I want to express my endless gratitude for your donations and your generosity. These iPads have made such a huge impact for my students and their learning experience because it allows them to work with materials that they are comfortable with and it makes it more engaging and fun. I had no doubt that these devices would have an immediate impact in our classroom. Students can follow along with an interactive book and provide responses through communication apps. These gifts are all thanks to you and your kind hearts. We in Class Y-05 THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. T

These iPads will make a HUGE difference in my students learning simply by them being available. My students are already very comfortable navigating iPads and related devices and having them in the classroom to support them and their creativity throughout the day, will enhance any idea and make lessons come to life. I truly feel that these devices will provide them the opportunity to stay connected and engaged to what they are learning and take control of how they learn. As I teach during this pandemic, each student having their own device at their fingertips can make a lesson about our community much more personal and interactive. Students can feel as if they are in control of their learning and scan a QR code that brings them directly to their tasked assignments. These materials will not leave the school building, they will stay in our classroom and students will be responsible for maintaining their device, keeping it clean and charging it. This, in turn, is a great skill for my students to have and it promotes independence and accountability.
