More Books, Less Blue Screens
Funded Jul 27, 2022As we know, our young adults today are consumed by blue screen technology. From their cell phones, to computer screens, to video games and online apps--our children are surrounded by distractions to keep them away from our fundamental learning tools--BOOKS! With your generosity, I was able to support my classroom learners to get set aside their technology to embrace a good old fashioned book. While access to books seems like a simple request, working in an underserved school community, the availability to reading materials that are truly interesting to my students is not always possible. Thanks to your contribution, I am able to offer these learners an opportunity that might not otherwise be afforded to them. Thank you so much for all of the lovely and appreciated materials you have provided to my classroom.”

Relatable Reads for Changing Times and Teens
Funded Mar 12, 2022Thank you for allowing me to present my students with novels that truly reflect my students' demographic and interests. Working at an underserved school, our school library does not include some of the books that my students can see themselves in. If students do not see representation in books that are targeted for young adults, it leaves them with sense of disinterest. They want to read about experiences and challenges and characters that they can relate to. You have given them that opportunity with your amazingly generous contribution. Thank you again.”

Best Sellers for Budding Readers
Funded Feb 21, 2022I sincerely can't thank you enough for your generous contribution to my classroom. It is donations like yours that breathe new life into a underserved classroom community. The books you donated will create lasting memories to my young readers. Nothing feels as special as a brand new book with a title and story that truly lures you in. You have given that experience to my students.
While most of my students are currently at the 4th grade reading level, despite their 9th grade status, I am convinced that if we can give our students more resources to build their reading skills, we can over time achieve greater reading comprehension and achievement. Thank you for helping me see this commitment through with your generosity.”

Ms. Park's Lux Library
Funded Feb 12, 2022Giving a child a book is the ultimate gift to developing a passion for story-telling, the written word, and the power of the imagination. This is what you have done with your generous contribution and what you have allowed me to do with the lovely books you have gifted our classroom.
I can't thank you enough for your amazing thoughtfulness as you funded dozens of great reads that my students are embracing fully. Even non-readers are captured by the titles of books they have seen come to life in the movies or books their friends have read, but they have yet to explore. Thank you again for this amazing gift and for supporting a classroom of life-long learners and hopefully life-long readers.”

Let's Get Organized--Practice Makes Perfect!
Funded Mar 12, 2022Providing a good example for your students is part of the teaching and learning process. Being organized is a simple but learned tool for success. Thank you for allowing me to demonstrate how good organization skills lead to more successful outcomes with your generous contributions to my classroom.
Assignment turn-in bins, handout organizers, and even coat racks provide clear examples of how to keep school and personal items in place to create an optimal work environment. Than you again for generously contributing to my classroom to make this possible. I appreciate what you have done for me and my students.”

Sweets for Success
Funded Feb 5, 2022I can't thank you enough for your great generosity. You have added so much delight in my student's lives. Just a simple candy can change a blah day into one of a little joy.
Every week my students meet with me one-on-one (yes, all 160 of them) to discuss their grades, attendance, and missing assignments in every class they take. Some weeks we celebrate individual successes while other weeks we have to face the harsh reality of individual disappointments. Either way, for having an honest conversation with me each student is rewarded with a Jolly Rancher candy for taking ownership for their own learning.
Your contribution to my classroom make a routine activity a little more exciting with the promise of a sweet treat. On my teacher salary, this treat was taking a toll. With your generosity, you have taken away and guilt I would have had not being able to provide them with their weekly treat. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Knott
