  • Leading the Way Towards Literacy

    Thank you so much for your generous contributions to this project. I aspire to have a classroom library that is representative of all different cultures, experiences, and reading levels. This project has allowed me to do achieve just that.

    Every day students have 30 minutes to cozy-up with their favorite books during independent reading time. My students are so much more eager to read now that they have a variety fo texts to choose from.

    A few of my students absolutely love the Unicorn and Yeti books. I hope to add even more of these books to my classroom library in the future.

    Thank you so much for contributing to this project. These materials have helped contribute to the functioning of our classroom, and have helped keep my students safe as we progress with in-person learning. We can never have enough hand sanitizer!

    This project also included some fun materials that my students absolutely love. The noise-cancelling headphones are so helpful for my kiddos that deal with overstimulation. My students also absolutely love exchanging the dojo points they earn for demonstrating model behavior for different stickers. They love being able to personalize their folders.

We especially love using these materials during ELA centers. One activity the students absolutely love to do is using the pop-its to phonetically sound out words. It has really helped strengthen my students' ability to decode words in a way that is engaging.

After a year and a half of virtual learning, my 3rd graders are working hard to master the basics of phonological awareness. These skills are vital to continuing their development as learners and leaders. I want to make sure that my students have all of the tools they need to be as successful as possible during this pivotal time. As a teacher in a two-teacher classroom, it is vital for my students to have multiple means of representation that are both entertaining and effective. By using exciting hands-on items, like pop-its and spelling games, I can make this important milestone in their educational paths as exciting and engaging as possible.

About my class
