Interactive and Welcoming Classroom
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom! Your impact has helped inspire students to become engaged learners and students who are excited to participate in math class. My students this year have utilized the art supplies almost every day to help them color code notes, highlight key vocabulary, and create wonderful posters for each unit we have learned. Many of my Special Education and English Language Learners have been able to access the Geometry curriculum because they have learned color coding skills. My students also have a stations activity about once a week where they utilize the clipboards. They have told me that having the clipboards have made the stations more engaging because they like to pick their color of the clipboard and it is easier to walk around and complete their work! Your thoughtful donation has not gone unnoticed and we are truly grateful for everything you have given us!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Gates Foundation and 2 other donors.Preparing for Math Mcas
Funded Nov 9, 2023I am writing to express my gratitude for your generous donation. Because of you, my students have the materials they need to find success in math and on their upcoming MCAS test. Your support has truly impacted my classroom and my students and I recognize and appreciate the impact you have had on their academic experience experience.
The calculators you donated are used every single day in the classroom. I hang them up on the wall so students have access to them whenever they need the resource. The pencils you provided are also always out for students to take as they need. I believe having resources readily available helps keep the learning moving as the students do not need to disrupt class by asking or looking for pencils/calculators. Also, it recognizes that these supplies are for the students and they should be able to use them when they are the ones needing them.
The paper has been on the biggest helps with their academic growth. I have been able to print worksheets/tests/quizzes without worrying if I can afford to buy more paper/allocating it sparingly. By using paper instead of computers, the students remain focused on their work . They have also often expressed to me that math is easier on paper and they do not have to struggle with it online as much now. As we prepare for MCAS, I was able to print packets of Algebra 1 review for every single one of my students.”

Funded Nov 25, 2022Thank you so much for funding my project. Because of your generous donation, I was able to engage all learners throughout the year and provide them with resources to support their learning styles. The three dimensional geometric solids were extremely helpful for my students to visualize what each shape looks like. We were able to do a project using water to fill each of the solids to compare volume!
However, the most impactful supplies that you provided were the colored pencils and highlighters. I have students ask to use them every single day to color code their notes and use them as studying material. I have noticed a significant increase in participation since these materials have been introduced to my class!
As my classes are in the final weeks before they take their MCAS, your resources have been crucial and we can not thank you enough!”

Calculators for MCAS Practice!
Funded Apr 7, 2022Thank you so much for supplying my classroom with calculators. It has made such an impact on my student's education. Due to the calculators you provided, my students have built a sense of confidence in themselves as they work through complex math problems. I have also been able to adequately prepare them for the MCAS and SAT exams. Every week. I screenshot released MCAS problems and my students collaboratively work to solve and then present on their problem assigned that day. Many of these problems are on the calculator section, and would be extremely difficult to solve without one.
I have hung up a station for calculators that my students always have access to and know where to find them. Because of your donation, my classroom is set up for all students to succeed and feel confident in their math abilities. My students and I thank you!”

Funded Dec 9, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. My students love being able to write on their desks with the colorful expo markers you provided (they ask to write on desks every week)! They also enjoy the colorful paper because it "gives the room more character". I think they just enjoy having a colorful environment along with easily seeing the colorful papers on the wall during scavenger hunts.
I personally can not thank you enough for the paper supply. My school gives teachers 1 ream of paper every month. I have 125 students, so if we do the math that is 4 pages per student every month. I give weekly quizzes and monthly tests in all my classes, so that alone would be over one ream of paper. I have many ELL and SPED students in my room who greatly benefit from graphic organizers, so I try to give students those once a week as well. My students expressed to me that after a year of remote learning, they are sick of computer work. Therefore, paper can be a costly expense and I appreciate your contributions so much!
My students love the fact my bathroom pass is a soap bottle. I sometimes have students stop by my room throughout the day to get some soap because the bathrooms are out of soap completely. I do not even want to think about the germs spread for students who do not have soap after using the bathroom!”

Back to Paper! Give Our Eyes a Screen Break!
Funded Sep 13, 2021Thank you so much for your gracious donations. My students and myself were ecstatic to see all the materials arrive. Because of your donation, my students have been able to creatively express themselves and bring math to life! My geometry classes were tasked by using their knowledge of transversals, parallel lines, and angle relations to create their own city and then bring it to life on paper! They were given problems such as "Place the post office and the bank so they form supplementary consecutive interior angles" and "Place two (2) transversal streets (Two more streets that intersect all three of the above streets). These should be named as well. DO NOT make the transversals parallel to each other!!" My students enjoyed getting to design and color their own city so much that they requested a project every quarter!
My ELL students in my algebra class love to use my word wall. They often look at the wall as they are practicing verbal speaking by answering questions. It give them the confidence they need to speak in class and reminds them of concepts we have previously learned.
We have a sanitation station in one of my closets where the lysol wipes are free for anyone to use. I sanitize my room every day after students leave but some students like to sanitize every day before they sit down. Especially with the rise of cases lately, my students have been extremely grateful that their health and safety is prioritized in my class. This comfort has been obtained because of your donations and I can not thank you enough for the lysol wipes.
We appreciate all you did for us this year!”
