When students draw, they have a healthy outlet for their negative feelings. It is also a way to reflect as they can look back on what they drew and use it as a tools for identifying their emotions. It is a no pressure space for them to focus on so that they are able to relax. These sketchbooks will help students access the logical and problem solving portions of their brain. As they focus on their work, their breathing slows and emotions don't feel as intense. This allows me to talk to the student and work together to come up with positive solutions.
