  • Emotional Regulation Tools - School Mental Health Matters!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

There are not enough words to express my joy, gratitude, and thanks for your generous donations to this project. My students and I are so very appreciative of your support and for recognizing that mental health matters. We can't wait to share some pictures of how everything is implemented! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Corrigan

  • Walking Labyrinth for Middle School Campus

    Funded Apr 13, 2022

Thank you so much for making this psychiatric social worker's dream come true! Thanks to your generous contribution, we had the supplies to complete this project. We now have a (beautiful) meditative walking labyrinth right on campus. We painted it outside of my room and it will serve as an incredible tool for emotional regulation for the students once they return to campus in August.

This is an area many students hang out in daily for nutrition and lunch, and it has also served as one of our main entrances onto campus this school year. It will be open and accessible to all as needed, including teachers and staff! Teachers are welcome to use it not only for the benefit of relaxation, but also for math lessons (that's how we mapped it out!) and any other creative lesson planning they'd like to develop. Our administrators are thrilled!

Thank you again for supporting all of my efforts this school year -- our campus is better off as a result of your donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Corrigan

  • Student Mental Health Matters!

    Funded Sep 8, 2021

I hope this letter finds you and your families safe and well. I want to thank each and every one of you for your contribution to my classroom and give you a peek at how the funding has been put to use this school year. With your help, I've been able to make an empty room feel more like a student lounge than a cold, institutional space. I have held countless counseling sessions, mediations, risk assessments, and more on the couches and bean bag chairs, which help students feel more at ease. I have been able to offer students a safe and a relaxing space to open up using the the games and therapy tools you've funded. Students hang out in the room daily for their nutrition period and during lunch time (after eating) and connect with their peers. You've created a space on campus where students' mental health comes first. I truly appreciate what you've provided for our WHA students during a tremendously challenging transition year!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Corrigan

As a Psychiatric Social Worker, I provide a safe space for students to come to when they are under stress and/or struggling socially, emotionally, and mentally. This year, that space is physically in a classroom, full-time, which I am so grateful for! However, I want to transform the room so that it feels less institutional and more like a welcoming, relaxing student lounge. I need your help to bring in safe, clean, and comfortable seating, fidget toys, therapy games, rugs, and more to make the room as inviting and calming as possible. Thank you for helping me to create a space that helps students learn to cope with their emotions so that they can concentrate when they are in the classroom!
