The SDSCPA Music Department applauds each and every donor who helped complete and fulfill the "Dream Big Band? Play the Tuba!" Donors Choose project. This news was shared among faculty, students, and parents at the Winter Music Showcase on Tuesday, January 4th. Your generosity spread goodwill, comfort, and joy throughout the crowd.
Not all students can afford to rent or buy an instrument. Your donation will provide transformative arts opportunities allowing students to pursue their passion for music and seek scholarships and postsecondary education. Thank you for sharing your heart and caring about SDSCPA grade level 6-12 students. SDSCPA gives you a STANDING OVATION!!!!! Live Your Passion.”

That moment when a student smiles big, their eyes widen and face lights up when notes are played on an instrument for the first time. A new instrument unlocks the musician deep inside. Whether it be a new saxophone, a keyboard or a TUBA, the transformation and impact is the same. Tubas are found in orchestras as well as concert bands. Our concert band program is a burgeoning new program. Students are eager to learn and contribute to its growth and success. The tuba is the foundation of the orchestral sound and is played in ensembles with other musicians teaching students how to listen and play together. Students will learn how to care for their instrument, proper posture, breathing technique, scales, musical notation, and music theory. Students work in small groups alongside professional coaches allowing for focused and in-depth instruction. All students will have performance opportunities whether in juries, as part of the Premier season, or in the community. A donation will help put a tuba in students' hands now and for many years to come. Life-long impact and value. Equity is the heart of what our school does by providing every child regardless of background or socioeconomic status the opportunity to pursue their dreams and goals. Our pre-conservatory model, sequential training, and study in the arts prepare all students for post-secondary readiness. What makes it all even more remarkable is that any student who is passionate and demonstrates potential can access our school for free.
