I am passionate about working with children whether in a counselor role or now my new role as a classroom teacher. As I am preparing for the students that I am teaching this year, I am trying to find things that I need to create a great classroom learning environment and culture. The theme that I chose for my classroom is "The Power of Yet!" I thought this would be fitting for me and my students. I haven't taught a self-contained 4th grade classroom yet. I haven't been a teacher of students at this age yet. I want to use this phrase to help my students see that they have courage to try anything, even if it is hard, whether it be something related to classroom learning or something in life. The items I have selected are many things that range from classroom management (stickers, puzzles, erasers) and making learning fun (beach ball, donut, dart board, spinning wheel to flexible seating (floor pillows), math manipulatives and keeping the classroom organized (chart keepers, groups chart, utility cart). All of these items will help our classroom become an organized well-oiled machine and a super fun place where we can learn at our best and always know that we can hold the power of yet!
