  • Modern Classroom

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

My students and I would like to thank you for your generosity and your commitment to education, schools and student achievement. Through your generous donation our classroom learning environment has become more modern and the learning environment more suitable for students to interact with content and tools. Through your donations of class set of headphones. My learners are able use devices such as tablets and laptops where sound is better controlled. Students having personal headphones has made computer-based testing opportunities more comfortable for my students. Another vital donation to creating a modern classroom was dry erase peel and stick paper, that has allowed me to create large writing space in the classroom. Having large writing space has allowed me as a teacher to model content for my students and permitted space where my students can show my exactly their understanding through written responses.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Derrick

  • Math Playground

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

We would like to personally thank you for your generous donations and your commitment to student learning and achievement. through your generous donations to our math playground project. When my students and I discovered that our project was fully funded and that we were going to have a fully functionable math center we were elated.

Resources like the math ten frames, dominoes and animal counters have made our learning of more fun and our small group math sessions as my students like to say "Lit". A few learners who are aggressively working on early number sense skills love using these hands-on resources that has allowed them to gain more independence and confidence as that perform simply math problems.

Next steps for my learners using our math center is to become "Guardians of Time" my academic goal is to have my learners become more proficient in telling time and calculating problems that involve time. Donors have generously donated class set of clocks, dry erase boards and markers, tools that would make my "time guardians" become animated and engaged while learning this abstract concept in Math. Again, we would like to thank you for your contribution and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Derrick

  • Closing the Literacy Gap

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Your generous donation of books and early literacy maniplulatives has tremendously impacted my learners in so many positive ways.

All of the books received by my class were culturally responsive. In these books all of my students could identify with characters, setting, and most important gain strong meaning and understanding from the readings. I feel like these books that are modern and current, address topics and lay foundation for my learners to boost their confidence levels as they relate and make personal connections to these readings. Also through these books my learners are more supported and encouraged to be creative. In their writing and illustrations. Many of these books the authors and illustrators used beautiful imagery that captivated my learners. Your generous donations of early literacy hands on materials have truly assisted me in being able to administer much needed supportant in early literacy skills. For any student. to master reading and reading for meaning he or she must have strong foundations in reading and reading comprehensions skills. so having tools such as phonics mats aid in helping students become more fluent in recognizing letters and sounds. Other hands on materials such as rhyming word puzzles help in sound patterns.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Derrick
