My students need sensory stimulation to self-regulate and function at their best in the classroom environment. These various sensory tools will help my students to engage in fun and meaningful learning. The rug will aid me in creating a safe calm-down space in my classroom for students to use to self-regulate. This area inside the classroom is crucial for students to get some space, but not miss out on instruction and engagement. The rug will make my space comfortable and clear for students, and can also be a place to engage in reading. The literacy materials will be used to help my students develop the skills they need to become readers. I believe that with the right tools and time, ALL STUDENTS CAN BECOME READERS, no matter what their disability is. Lastly, the accessibility materials, like the pencil grippers and the scissors, will help students with fine motor limitations access the curriculum and become more confident and independent learners.
