My kindergartners are just beginning their academic careers, and it is important that we set the foundations that will ensure success in later grades.
In kindergarten, we work on letter and number recognition, learn letter sounds and blends, explore how numbers work, and even begin to read; we also develop 'non-academic' skills like time management, making friends, having conversations, and keeping our personal space organized. In order to help my scholars learn to keep their space and materials organized, I would like to provide each of my scholars with a chair pocket for the back of their seats. Each chair pocket goes over the back of a student's chair, and allows them to keep all their supplies close. We will keep our pencil boxes, crayons, book bags, and academic textbooks in these chair pockets. Because every scholar needs an individual set of supplies due to COVID-19, having a system to organize student materials is more important than ever.
