  • Cluster Creations

    Funded Jan 24, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our project. Students used most of the material in our annual Silent Auction creating every item themselves. Students were thrilled when they saw the order fulfilled and was very excited to get creative.

Our next steps using the materials is preparing for the Christmas season and making personalized ornaments! Students are already in the beginning planning stages for this project.

Because of your generosity, my students will continue to create customized items and share their creativity with their families, peers and teachers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arnold

  • Perfecting Personal Hygiene

    Funded Sep 7, 2021

Thank you for funding our project. We are currently using the new resources daily as part of our functional and life skills curriculum. We use safely (social distancing) wash our face and brush our teeth after breakfast. Students then apply lotion and deodorant as needed. A lot of the students can independently brush their teeth, other needs verbal and some physical prompting.

When the students saw the boxes, they were very inquisitive. I then explained to them how very generous people gave us these resources so we can practice and master personal hygiene. They kept saying "thank you" to me, but I reassured them I was not the one to provide the resources. The students were very helpful in assembling the materials.

After we opened the boxes, we organized the materials and created an assembly line. Each student help fill the personal hygiene kits. We have mostly mastered the steps in brushing our teeth and flossing. We are now working on the proper amount of lotion and deodorant to apply. Thank you for helping teach and reinforce the skill of grooming and personal hygiene.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Arnold

The above materials will be used to teach and practice the importance of personal hygiene. Students will brush their teeth, wash their face, put on lotion and deodorant daily. We will start by modeling the proper way to do all of the above through explicit and repeated instruction. students will also have a graphic organizer as a visual to help follow the steps once support is faded. Our goal is to foster independence through modeling and faded support. With your help, our students will be one step closer to independently taking care of themselves.
