  • Sensory Bottles for a Special Needs Classroom

    Funded May 4, 2022

My students had the most amazing time making sensory bottles to take home! When I told them they could take them home, their eyes and smiles grew. They loved using their creativity and being able to customize their own bottles.

After the project while the bottles were drying, we discussed how they could be used because they are a tool and not just a toy. My students discussed that it can help distract them, it can help with their breathing and counting as well.

Many of my students have asked me to share the directions with their families or if we can do this again! It was a great experience and I thank you again for providing us with the needed materials.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Granda

  • Binders and Storage for Writing

    Funded Nov 6, 2021

The binders and shelf have helped with organization tremendously! The students are learning how to use tabs and how to organize their work. They also have been able to keep track of pencils, erasers and any other materials needed so they do not have to share materials this year.

The students were able to decorate the sides of their binder with their name so they can find it easily and quickly. They also were able to draw a picture for the front of their binder to personalize it.

We are so thankful for the donation and these will be used for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Granda

  • iPad for Data Collection!

    Funded Sep 6, 2021

Thank you again for your contribution! I have been using this iPad and technology to take data to better inform my instruction. With more accurate and consistent data, my students are getting the interventions and support that they need on an individualized level.

I have been able to use the information from my data collection to create family friendly graphs to share progress at IEP meetings. I have also been able to progress monitor with this information.

Finally, students keep asking why I have an iPad with me at all times, but they are starting to warm up to it and just ignore it now.

Again - I appreciate the support and donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Granda

As a special education teacher, I push into general education classrooms to take data to inform myself and the special education team of our students' needs. Bringing a computer around is not the most efficient way to take data. We use check lists, Google forms and graphs to inform our instruction and show students their growth. Having this iPad mini will make it easy to bring the tablet into different classrooms to take live data. I will be able to use this live data to inform my IEPs, share information quickly and easily with families, and always have the data on the Google drive instead of hard copy paper. This will support all of my students' needs.
