In middle school, there is a stigma about going to the counseling office for anything. I want students to feel excited to come to my office and use what I have available for them. The bean bag chair is comfortable and less formal than a regular desk chair. It also gives a relaxed sort of vibe rather than feeling like one is in trouble. It is the biggest ask on my list and I think it will make the biggest impact on the students' willingness to come see me. The snacks are different than what the school offers for lunch and breakfast, so I can check-in with students who come to me for those! The stickers and erasers will be used to encourage good or outstanding behavior. And the SEL books will help me with activities and and continued support for my students. Counseling is not something to be afraid of, and students should feel comfortable around me and my office, so these items will greatly support that! I appreciate your support!
