Our school year is off to a wonderful start. We are so happy to be back with our students and, honestly, they seem really happy too. But, it's also true many of them miss home and may not be used to the expectations at school. Many of our students at school have Autism and many others are also experiencing school for the first time in their short lives. It's delightful to see the return to school and I am so proud to be a part of supporting these young learners. I want to create a variety of behavioral tools that will help all students succeed! I plan to collaborate with our school's Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to print and laminate visual schedules, communication cards, token boards, first then cards, and whatever other creative ideas we come up with to support our community. I am most excited to find Social Stories on Teachers Pay Teachers to assist with separation anxiety, potty training, and school refusal. Social stories are evidence based behavioral strategies for learners on the Autism Spectrum. But, they can also be helpful for all learners. This is especially true this year since many young children need to be taught or reminded of school expectations after returning from 17 months of Distance Learning. Our school recently received gold recognition from the State of California for our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The type of work that you would be supporting is in line with our vision of being thoughtful in how we teach, model, and reinforce positive behavior. We believe in this work and humbly request your assistance with these resources. Thank you for considering to help our school. May you have Grant Grizzly great week!
