Building a Classroom Library

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to help fund this project! My students are so happy to have more books to choose from for independent reading times, as well as colorful bins to help keep our library organized. Since your project helped upgrade our classroom library, more of my students have taken an interest in reading. They beg me every morning to switch out their books. They are excited to browse through books on various topics that are also "just right" for them. It is such a joy to see my students' love for reading and to be able to foster it by having a variety of books for them to choose from! With the new book bins, students have also taken on a greater sense of ownership and responsibility to care for the library. A few students are self-proclaimed "library monitors" who make sure all of the books are placed in their proper bins.

One student in particular has been especially excited for the higher leveled texts that you helped contribute to my library. His desk is stationed right next to the bookshelves. Whenever he finishes his work, he quietly pulls a book out from the M+ bin to read. He has jokingly claimed that bin to be his own because "they are finally hard enough for him." This student has even organized the bin so that he could keep track of which books he has already read and which ones he will read next. This love for reading is just so great to see!
